I’m excited to announce that Rise v2 is available today! Rise v2 is our biggest update ever and includes some of the most commonly requested features from our users.

Multiple ingredient cards

The single most common request from our users has been support for multiple ingredient cards. With v2 a recipe can have any number of ingredient cards, allowing you to more easily create and follow more complex recipes.

And if imported recipes utilize multiple sets of ingredients, they get imported into Rise using separate ingredient cards, just like the original.

For more info on how to use multiple ingredient cards, please see our FAQ.

Unit conversions

Some bakers prefer cups & tablespoons, some are more fussy and want to weigh everything down to the gram. We get it. Because sourdough recipes can be so sensitive to flour and water content, all of our recipes will use grams whenever possible, and we suggest using a kitchen scale to weigh out the ingredients.

However as of Rise v2 most common ingredients can be switched from weight units (grams, ounces, pounds, etc) to volume units (tablespoons, cups, etc) and vice versa. In any ingredient card, just tap the UNITS button at the bottom and change it to Weight or Volume. Changing it back to Natural shows ingredient units as they were originally set in the recipe.

Total time

Showing the total time of the recipe has been another common request, and Rise now shows it for all recipes.

DDT Widget

Getting the final desired dought temperature can be crucial for some recipes, and we’ve always had DDT calculators in the Utilities tab, but now you can drop a DDT widget into any of your recipe steps and it will calculate the ideal water temperature on the fly!

Ease of use

Many parts of the app UI have been simplified and made easier to use. For example, recipe sections are now searchable and collapsible, amount pickers are easier to use, typing is easier, ingredient order is more flexible, and baker’s percentages are no longer shown by default (but can still be enabled in Settings).

Our website got some love, too
